2026 BCSP Board Member Nomination Application
Thank you for your interest in leading the advancement of Safety as a BCSP Board member. BCSP’s Board members represent a wide range of industries, specializations, and geographic regions to most effectively serve BCSP’s diverse body of credential holders. They volunteer their time, without compensation, to provide knowledgeable governance, build collaborative relationships, and generally support BCSP in the mission of advancing safety practice.
Board Member Requirements
• Candidates must have held the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential for at least five (5) years and be in good standing at the time of application. • Directors typically commit an average of two (2) to four (4) hours per week to BCSP matters and are expected to attend two in‑person Board meetings annually (April and November), as well as one virtual Board meeting (August).
• Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience, and broad experience within SH&E practice is required.
• Additional professional certifications are strongly encouraged.
• Candidates must be free of conflicts of interest, able to comply with the BCSP Conflict of Interest Policy, and have familiarity with the BCSP Bylaws. In accordance with the Bylaws, former BCSP Directors who have not served within the past seven (7) years are eligible to apply for nomination.
• BCSP Directors are prohibited from participating in the development, translation, production, copying, publication, distribution of, or teaching of any course, program, workshop, or materials which are not created by, designed by, or developed by BCSP and which are specifically directed toward preparation for any BCSP certification examination at any time during their service to BCSP.
Election Process
The BCSP Nominations and Board Development Committee reviews all application submissions. The election process is guided by BCSP’s commitment to ensuring diverse representation on the Board, reflecting the range of professionals engaged in safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice. Considerations include geography, industry, areas of specialization, and other attributes represented within the profession. The Board will elect new Director(s) prior to the November 2026 BCSP Board meeting, providing an opportunity for New Directors to attend as guests.
